National Animal Safety and Protection

Celebrate National Animal Safety and Protection Month in October With Our PetVax Affordable Care Hospitals in Memphis

Ask any pet parent what they want most for their animal and the answer is usually a variation of “happy and healthy!” One of the best ways to keep a pet happy and healthy is to keep them safe and protected from preventable problems. That's why we're celebrating National Animal Safety and Protection Month in October at our Memphis veterinarian, PetVax Affordable Care Hospitals. Founded by the PALS Foundation, the month-long event raises awareness for the safe handling and caring of all animals.

Our Animal Safety Services

Preventative care is an affordable way to protect your pet from illness and injury. We offer many animal safety services at a veterinarian in Memphis including:

  • Vaccinations to protect dogs against rabies, parvovirus, adenovirus-2, and distemper, as well as to protect cats from rabies, herpes virus, calicivirus, and panleukopenia.
  • Spay or neuter surgery is not only important to prevent unwanted litters, but it is also a way to keep your pet safe against potentially life-threatening illnesses, including some cancers.
  • Microchipping gives your pet a permanent ID with your information. At our veterinarian in Memphis, we use the Home Again microchip that can be scanned by any vet or shelter, so your beloved pet can be returned to your arms as quickly as possible.

Animal Safety at Home

Prevent emergency situations by practicing animal safety at home.

  • Keep poisons and toxins (including foods and plants) securely out of reach.
  • Supervise playtime and put toys away when you are away.
  • During the holidays, keep presents with ribbons out of reach. Keep your pet in a secure room while food and drinks are within reach.
  • Create an animal first-aid kit with gauze, bandages, pet-safe creams, hydrogen peroxide, a muzzle, and emergency contact numbers.
  • Download the first aid app from the Red Cross.
